First, let me begin by saying that when I read such things, I always wonder whether they are made up (fiction) or whether they are real people. Well, we are a real Family who decided to sell our property in Coquitlam, B.C. this past summer. My wife Nancy, my Son Russ, and I had already decided that the North Okanagan was the region we wanted to live in. We like the geography, and we like the climate. We also have Family and Friends who live in the Vernon area. So before we listed our Coquitlam home, we told our friends Dave & Carol what we were planning, and that we would be coming to the North Okanagan in April to see what was available. Dave & Carol recommended that we contact Real Estate Agent Lisa Milligan; we did, explaining to her that we were interested in purchasing a lot where we would build our house. Lisa showed us a very nice lot, and introduced us to the Builder. Unfortunately, Nancy and I felt that the lot was somewhat over-priced, and the cost of building the house we wanted was beyond our means. So, we went for a look/see at existing homes. We found a home in a beautiful, quiet neighbourhood in Armstrong. Nancy and I called Lisa on her cell phone, and she drove from Vernon and arrived at the address within 30 minutes. We were very impressed with such service! We viewed the home, but weren't sure whether or not it was what we wanted. Lisa told us to call her at anytime if we wanted to have a second look. Late that evening, Nancy and I decided the house was worth a closer examination, so we called Lisa and she set up an appointment for the following morning...Sunday. Lisa was very patient with us as we spent about an hour at the house, taking measurements and figuring where our furniture would fit, etc. Lisa was very helpful with suggestions. Nancy and I decided to make an offer on the property. That's when we really discovered how fantastic Lisa was! Once the formal paper work for our offer was completed, we went to McDonald's in Armstrong for lunch (Lisa's treat). During lunch, Lisa...via cell phone...negotiated with the Sellers. Within 45 minutes, it was a done deal, and both we and the Seller were happy. What hasn't been said is that Nancy and I were taking a chance in buying a home before our Coquitlam property was sold. Because of the very hot market, we figured that the risk was minimal. Unfortunately, we ran into problems with the real estate agent we hired to sell our property. We were in TROUBLE! Lisa called our bank and convinced them to put bridge financing in place. Lisa bought us the time we needed to sell our Coquitlam property. This is not something she was obligated to do; it was not something she was paid to do; it was, however, the kind of 'above and beyond' service Lisa gives all of her clients! Moreover, we received enough air miles from Lisa (when we purchased our new home) to bring our Daughter home for Christmas from Edmonton. Furthermore, when Lisa discovered that we were in the market for a new living room suite, she gave us a certificate for The Brick to purchase furniture at Contractor's prices. Lisa gave us such support, and worked so hard for us! We consider Lisa to be our friend. If we ever need a Realtor again, she will most definitely handle our business.
